ABOUT

The Central Plains Women's Lacrosse League began in 2004 after five teams left the Women's Collegiate Lacrosse League (WCLL). The goal of the new league was to spread the sport to the midwest region of the United States. The new league is comprised of nine teams which gave the CPWLL champion an automatic bid to the national tournament.
The CPWLL is divided into two divisions, the East and the West, which compete in a regional tournament to determine the league champion.
Kansas head coach and first league President Dave Wiley was a strong proponent for forming the new league. The onset of the league has already begun to spread the sport regionally and expand the pool of referees.
